I regard no man as poor who has a Godly mother- Abraham Lincoln
All parents remember the feeling of holding their child for the first time. We recognize the weigh of the job ahead of us as we cuddle the light bundle of cuteness. We know that all that our children will ever know, finds its foundations in what we teach them. Parents help build the lens in which our children will experience the world.
Yet, in time, children grow and mature. They begin life in a place of complete need and begin adulthood with skills and knowledge that outstretch our own. As parents we are tasked with the sometimes difficult (many times beautiful) responsibility to shape these maturing little ones into God honoring people of faith.
A Godly Mother's Guidance
Godly mothers have a profound effect on the their children. Their godly words and Christ-like actions are like hand rails that keep their children from tipping off the narrow path. Many Christian men and women owe the foundation of their faith to the early guidance of a godly mother.
There is no one who has the heart and attention of her young children as much as their mother. They look to her for tender care and gently guidance. A mother has the opportunity to set in motion a discipleship effort that will go beyond the years that she has to instruct them. Godly mothers are indispensable in the Christian home and their tireless efforts do not go unnoticed.
The Goodness of a Godly Mother
Children raised under the teaching of a godly mother will have learned from her many good things that honor God and uphold His word. The goodness found in her teaching will offer her children a glimpse into the goodness of God. The attitude that a she holds in regard to the word of God will be help her children fall in love with the scriptures. The passion and faith she displays in prayer will give her children hope that God will hear their prays too!
Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.
Godly mothers are indispensable in the christian home. Let us honor them as they honor their Lord.
