Theme: The People of the Son of God
Passage: Hebrews 2:1-4
Do not Neglect the Son of God
“We must pay much closer attention” to the message communicated through the Son.
Sin has caused trouble throughout creation and especially in our own hearts. The sin that has stained creation with impurity will be punished. “Every transgression and disobedience received a just retribution.” This means that every sin committed against God is deserves to be punished. Every person who sins against God will receive the punishment of death.
However, the message communicated through the Son offers an escape from the wrath of God. It offers purification and forgiveness from every transgression and disobedience. It offers a right relationship with the Son and heir of the almighty God.
How are we to escape the punishment that our sins have brought upon us if we neglect the great salvation offered in Christ?
All of this, wrath for sin and forgiveness for the people of the Son of God, is promised by the Father. Anyone who does not believe in the Son of God will received the punishment they are due (just retribution), but anyone who puts there faith in the Son of God will "escape" the wrath that is to come.
Why is sin such a problem for everyone?
What is our only escape from our sin?
Do you believe that Jesus can save us all?
