Theme: Importance of the Son of God
Passage: Hebrews 4:8-13
The Son of God is our Great High Priest
We are all beset with weakness, consequently when we are examined by the living and active words of God, our sins are exposed. No one in this world could stand before the words of God and say, “I am clean”, and instead we must admit our weakness and our need for a mediator between God and man.
That mediator is Jesus, the son of God. He is the only one who can stand before the words of God and not be ashamed. He is the “one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” Because of this he understands and can sympathize with our weaknesses. Though he himself has never sinned, he does know the power of our temptations.
Therefore, be not afraid of approaching God. Jesus understands you and has sacrificed for your sins. We can now draw near to God with confidence that he will accept us. Instead of receiving our just punishment for our sins, "We may receive mercy and find grace to help in our time of need.”
